Stephanie Dunn Coaching. Last updated September 2026.

Who you are working with.

Stephanie Dunn Coaching is a coaching practice based in Sonoma, California, run by Stephanie Dunn, an executive and leadership coach. You can reach me at [email protected].

I hold the Associate Certified Coach credential from the International Coaching Federation and I work under their Code of Ethics. If you ever think I have fallen short of it, tell me. You can also raise it with the ICF directly, and you do not need my permission to do that.

What this page covers.

This page covers everything you can book or buy through this website: the exploratory call, a One Sentence session, and anything added here later. It is the agreement between us for those.

Six-month coaching engagements are different. They are governed by a separate written agreement that we go through together and that you sign before we begin. Where that agreement and this page differ, your signed agreement governs.

The exploratory call.

The thirty-minute exploratory call is free and carries no commitment in either direction. Booking it asks for your name and your email, and nothing else.

What One Sentence is.

One Sentence is a single coaching session of ninety minutes, held by video, phone or in person. It is bought on its own. There is no commitment beyond it, and you are welcome to book another whenever you want one.

The fee is $850, paid when you book.

Whose words they are.

I do not write your sentence for you. If you have read that you leave with the words, they are your words, found in the room, in your own voice, so that they still sound like you when you say them to the person who needs to hear them.

A script I handed you would not survive the conversation. You would not be able to deliver it and it would not be true. What we are looking for is the thing you already mean, said in a way you can actually say.

If it is not the right room.

If you decide in the first fifteen minutes that this is not the right room for you, we stop and I refund you in full. You decide that, not me, and you do not have to explain it.

If you go on to an engagement.

If you begin a six-month coaching engagement with me within ninety days of your One Sentence session, the $850 is credited against your first monthly installment. You are not paying twice for the same work.

Rescheduling and cancelling.

Life happens. If you need to move the session, tell me at least twenty-four hours ahead and we will find another time at no cost. If you cancel with at least twenty-four hours’ notice, I refund you in full. Inside twenty-four hours, or if you do not arrive, the fee stands, because the time was held for you and could not be offered to anyone else.

The exploratory call carries no fee, so nothing is owed if you miss it. I would still prefer to hear from you, and I am grateful when someone lets me know.

What is said here stays here.

Everything you tell me is confidential. I do not share it, and I do not discuss it with anyone. The only exceptions are the ones the law does not leave to me: a credible threat to your life or someone else’s, suspected abuse of a child or an elder, or a court order.

If I ever want to use something from our work in my writing or teaching, even anonymized, I will ask you first and you are free to say no. The same goes for anything public that carries your name: a testimonial, a review, a case study, a quote. Each one is its own ask, and a yes to one is not a yes to the next. Silence is not consent and nothing is used without your yes.

How I use AI, and what never goes into it.

I use AI tools to run this business: writing, planning, scheduling, and thinking through my own practice. I would rather tell you that plainly than let you assume otherwise. Here is where the line sits.

If that changes, this page changes first, and you would hear it from me before it applied to you.

Recording, and keeping a record of your own work.

I do not record sessions on my own initiative. If I ever want to, for feedback from a master coach as part of my own development, I will ask you in advance and you are free to say no. Your identity is never disclosed in a recording of mine.

If you want a record of your session, you can have one. There are three ways, and I would take them in this order.

One thing worth knowing before you choose. People speak more carefully when something is recording, and usually do not notice themselves doing it. That may not matter at all. It is worth a moment’s thought if what you came to say is the hardest thing you have.

What coaching is, and what it is not.

Coaching is a partnership. I work with you to see how you are actually showing up, so that your next choice is made deliberately rather than by habit. I ask questions, I reflect back what I hear, and I hold you to what you told me mattered to you. The work is yours. I hold the space for it.

I am not a licensed therapist, psychologist, physician or attorney, and I do not diagnose, treat or prescribe. Coaching is not therapy, counseling, mental health treatment, legal advice or financial advice, and it is not a substitute for any of them. If something in our work belongs with a therapist, a doctor, a lawyer or an accountant, I will say so plainly, and seeking that support is yours to arrange.

I cannot guarantee a particular outcome. What you do with the session is yours.

If you are in crisis.

Coaching is not crisis support and I am not an emergency service. I hold the time we have scheduled, and I am not available between sessions for urgent situations.

If you are in immediate danger, or you are thinking about harming yourself, please contact emergency services, or the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, which takes calls and texts at 988 at any hour. If something difficult is happening that is not an emergency, a licensed therapist or your doctor is the right person for it, and I am glad to help you think about finding one.

Saying this plainly is not me stepping back from you. It is me making sure that if you ever need something I am not able to give, you already know where it is.

What the booking forms collect, and where it goes.

Booking anything here asks for your name and your email. Booking a One Sentence session also asks three short questions: who the conversation is about, roughly what it is about, and whether you have a time in mind to say it. Only the first is required.

I know those three questions ask for something real, so here is exactly what happens to the answers.

Scheduling runs through Calendly and payment through Stripe, so each of those companies holds the part of the transaction it handles, under its own privacy policy. Neither of them receives your answers to the coaching questions. I never see or store your card number.

Your email.

I use your email to arrange the session and to follow up about our work. If you subscribe to Out Loud, my monthly letter, that is a separate choice you make yourself. The box asks for your email address and nothing else, Kit is the service that holds it and sends the letter, and it is used for nothing else. Every issue carries an unsubscribe link, and leaving takes one click.

If something goes wrong.

Tell me. Most things are solved by saying them, which is rather the point of the work. If something cannot be solved that way, we agree to try mediation with a mutually acceptable third party before either of us takes any other step, and to split the mediator’s fee. These terms are governed by the law of the State of California.

Changes.

If I change these terms, the version in force for you is the one published on the day you booked.
